The focus is on reducing American troops and shifting defense responsibilities to European nations while maintaining a nuclear umbrella. Colby’s visit includes meetings in Germany, Belgium, and NATO headquarters in Brussels, where he will discuss the strategy with allies. Eastern European countries are proposing financial incentives to retain U.S. troops, emphasizing their strategic positions and defense investments. Romania is actively engaging in discussions to maintain U.S. military presence, which currently includes around 1,500 troops.
