SUA revin în forță în Groenlanda: două noi baze militare vor fi deschise după criza provocată de Trump în NATO • Newsweek România

The U.S. is set to enhance its military presence in Greenland by reopening a Cold War base and establishing a new one on the east coast. This agreement with Denmark and Greenland follows tensions caused by Donald Trump's ambitions regarding the island. The first site is Narsarsuaq, where the U.S. previously operated Bluie West One, while the second is Mestersvig, currently used by the Danish Sirius Patrol. The new agreement is expected to be signed during the UN General Assembly. Trump's insistence on U.S. control over Greenland led to a diplomatic crisis within NATO, with strong opposition from the Greenlandic population against American control. Denmark emphasizes that Arctic security should remain a NATO concern, not just a U.S.-Denmark issue.
