A significant 61% of respondents view internal extremists as a more serious danger, while only 34% consider foreign extremists a greater threat. The survey also reveals that 42% of Americans see random acts of violence as the primary safety concern, with 33% citing domestic terrorism and just 20% pointing to foreign terrorism. This marks a notable shift from perceptions a decade ago, where foreign terrorism was seen as the main threat. Despite skepticism about the wars initiated post-9/11, many Americans support stricter airport security measures and believe the government's response has been somewhat effective in preventing further attacks.
