China has called for respect for digital sovereignty amid reports that the US is urging countries to choose sides in the AI race against Beijing. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized the right of each nation to select its partners based on national conditions. The US is reportedly preparing to inform numerous countries that aligning with China could lead to exclusion from an AI coalition led by Washington. This initiative, known as 'Pax Silica', aims to secure supply chains for AI technologies and critical minerals amid rising technological rivalry with China. Approximately 24 countries, including Japan and Australia, are part of this coalition.
