The U.S. announced new sanctions against Iranian entities linked to the Revolutionary Guards, accused of imposing insurance fees on ships in the Strait of Hormuz. This follows recent Iranian attacks on U.S. bases, escalating tensions in the Middle East. The sanctions target Persian Gulf Marine Insurance Company and HormuzSafe Marine Services Authority, which are said to generate revenue for Iran by creating artificial risks for commercial vessels. Additionally, eight companies involved in transporting Iranian oil and petrochemicals to China and the UAE were sanctioned. The Iranian regime, facing economic decline and high inflation, is in desperate need of liquidity.
