The U.S. Navy has advanced the MQ-25A Stingray program, awarding Boeing a contract for the production of three initial aircraft. This contract, valued at approximately $562 million, includes long-lead components for three additional units. The MQ-25A is designed to be the first unmanned aircraft operated from U.S. aircraft carriers, primarily tasked with aerial refueling, allowing combat aircraft to extend their range without carrying extra fuel. The first MQ-25A completed its inaugural flight on April 25, 2026, controlled from the ground, marking a significant milestone. The Navy plans to deliver the first Lot 1 aircraft by 2029, with a total of 76 MQ-25s expected to enhance naval aviation capabilities and integrate future autonomous systems.
