STUDIU: Tulburarea obsesiv-compulsivă, sindromul Tourette și autismul ar avea rădăcini genetice comune

Researchers have identified 36 genes significantly linked to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and chronic tic disorders, including Tourette syndrome. This study, led by scientists from Rutgers University, analyzed genetic data from nearly 4,000 individuals. Previously, only four genes were known to be associated with these conditions. The findings reveal a substantial genetic overlap between OCD and tic disorders, with many affected individuals exhibiting symptoms of both. The identified genes are involved in brain circuits related to impulse control and habit formation, and their effects can increase the risk of these disorders significantly. This research may pave the way for personalized treatments targeting specific genetic profiles.
