STUDIU: Persoanele care obișnuiesc să consume ceaiul sau cafeaua la temperaturi foarte ridicate ar putea avea un risc de aproximativ trei ori mai mare de a dezvolta o anumită formă de cancer esofagian

A recent study involving nearly one million people in the UK indicates that consuming very hot beverages may triple the risk of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. The research, published in the International Journal of Cancer, highlights the importance of both the temperature and quantity of hot drinks consumed. Those who prefer their drinks 'very hot' face a significantly higher risk compared to those who drink them 'warm'. Additionally, consuming at least six hot drinks daily increases the risk by 71%. The study, led by Dr. Keren Papier from Oxford University, suggests that reducing the temperature of beverages could prevent many cases of this cancer. However, the study's reliance on self-reported temperature preferences poses limitations, and experts urge caution in interpreting the findings.
