STUDIU: Fiecare oră suplimentară petrecută în poziţie şezând, asociată cu un risc cu 9% mai mare de deces prin cancer

A recent UK study found that prolonged sedentary behavior increases cancer mortality risk by 9%. Researchers analyzed data from over 91,000 participants, revealing that uninterrupted sitting for over 30 minutes is particularly harmful. In contrast, breaking up sedentary time with movement is linked to lower cancer risks. Replacing one hour of prolonged sitting with light activity could reduce cancer death risk by 12%. The findings suggest that both the duration and distribution of sedentary time impact health, emphasizing the importance of incorporating light movement into daily routines. The study was supported by the American Cancer Society and NIH.
