STUDIU: Densitatea osoasă scăzută este asociată cu declinul cognitiv

A study from Johns Hopkins University suggests a link between low bone density and cognitive decline. Researchers found that lower spinal bone mineral density correlates with faster cognitive deterioration and increased white matter damage in the brain. This discovery may lead to using CT scans, already performed for other health assessments, to identify individuals at risk for both skeletal and neurological decline. The study emphasizes that while there is an association, it does not imply that osteoporosis causes dementia, but rather indicates shared risk factors for both conditions.
