Studiu: Copiii din Europa sunt în cea mai slabă formă fizică din ultimii 60 de ani
A recent study reveals a significant decline in the physical fitness of European children and adolescents over recent decades, highlighting decreased muscle strength and flexibility alongside increased body fat. The research, conducted by the University of Zaragoza, analyzed data from over 417,000 participants aged 6 to 16 across 20 European countries from 1965 to 2023. Results indicate a continuous decrease in upper limb strength since the 1970s, while lower limb strength showed a decline after a peak in the 1980s. Flexibility has deteriorated sharply, especially post-2000, and while cardiorespiratory fitness appears to have stabilized recently, it remains below previous decades' levels. Alarmingly, over 75% of European adolescents fail to meet the World Health Organization's recommended physical activity levels. The study calls for public institutions to enhance physical activity promotion among youth.
