STUDIU: Aproape 90% dintre decesele cardiace din Statele Unite sunt provocate de colesterolul ridicat, fumat și poluarea cu particule

A recent study published in JAMA Cardiology reveals that nearly 90% of ischemic heart disease deaths in the U.S. are linked to modifiable risk factors. Researchers analyzed data from the Global Burden of Disease Study, identifying high LDL cholesterol, smoking, and air pollution as significant contributors. In 2023, ischemic heart disease caused 473,000 deaths, a 58.7% decrease since 1990. High systolic blood pressure was the leading risk factor, followed by unhealthy diet and high LDL cholesterol. Experts emphasize the importance of lifestyle changes, including a healthy diet and regular exercise, to mitigate these risks. Regular medical check-ups are crucial for early detection of risk factors.
