STUDIU: Accidentele vasculare cerebrale aproape s-au dublat la adulții de 20-54 de ani în decurs de trei decenii

A recent study reveals a significant increase in stroke rates among adults aged 20-54, nearly doubling from 1990 to 2020. The research, conducted in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, identified over 2,000 stroke cases in this age group. The rise is primarily attributed to ischemic strokes, with a notable increase in cardiovascular health issues among young stroke patients. Despite the increase in stroke occurrences, the 30-day mortality rate has slightly decreased, indicating more young adults survive strokes but may face long-term consequences. Experts emphasize the need for early identification and management of stroke risk factors, urging young adults to monitor their cardiovascular health.
