The Romanian government plans to adopt a National Competitiveness Strategy focusing on innovation and growth financing, as outlined in the 2026-2028 governance program. This strategy aims to enhance productivity by coordinating sectoral strategies and identifying strategic industrial chains. It includes new state aid schemes for clean industries and aims to establish a National Productivity Council to analyze and recommend reforms. The government also intends to operationalize various funding schemes for competitiveness clusters and high-tech industries, while creating a legal framework for strategic projects over 100 million euros. Additionally, it seeks to update the foreign trade strategy to increase national income and competitiveness, emphasizing processed critical raw materials.
