The Romanian Competition Council approved Suleyman Islambay's acquisition of Sterk Plast SRL, a plastic products manufacturer. This decision follows a lengthy legal dispute between Islambay and his partner Erkan Genc, who had accused each other of financial misconduct. Despite the ongoing conflict, the Council found no significant competition issues with the transaction. Sterk Plast reported revenues of approximately 33 million euros in 2025 and employs 470 people. The company also has ties to Ecofriend Recycling and holds a stake in DCN EU Retail. The legal battles between Islambay and Genc have included accusations of profit manipulation and defamation, with both parties seeking legal redress.
