The mayor of Bucharest, Ciprian Ciucu, announced the STB's insolvency filing as a necessary step for the company's salvation, ensuring public transport and employee salaries remain unaffected. He described the financial situation as alarming, with public transport consuming 34% of the city's budget. Ciucu emphasized that the insolvency process would prevent further penalties and allow for a restructuring plan. He criticized the TPBI for its role in rising operational costs and dismissed claims that the insolvency was aimed at seizing STB's land, clarifying that the land is public property. Investments in transport infrastructure will continue.
