A new law in Romania will provide monthly compensation of 5,000 lei to victims of the 1990 Mineriad, effective January 1, 2027. This law benefits those injured, detained, or deceased during the events, as well as their descendants. The compensation will be adjusted annually for inflation and funded by the state budget. Additional benefits include free medical treatments, early retirement options, tax exemptions, and free urban transport. Eligible individuals must hold certificates confirming their victim status to access these rights.
