Stațiunea de schi de pe Ghețarul Stelvio, închisă din cauza caniculei
The last summer ski resort in the Northern Hemisphere, Passo Stelvio in Italy, has closed due to extreme heat melting snow. This marks the first time in modern history that no summer ski resorts are open north of the equator. The operator, Sifas, made the decision for tourist safety as high temperatures and storms destabilized the glacier. Other resorts in the Alps have also closed, and this summer's record temperatures have exposed ice, leading to unprecedented conditions. Resorts may reopen when weather permits, with some in Austria expected to resume in September.
