The Cluj-based startup .lumen, known for its "Glasses for the Visually Impaired," has been selected for the K-Startup Grand Challenge 2026, a South Korean government program aimed at international companies seeking to enter and expand in the South Korean market. CEO Cornel Amariei highlighted that .lumen is the first Romanian startup chosen for this global initiative. The program, which has been running since 2016, selects 80 startups, narrowing down to 40 and then 20, providing them with access to local business expertise and potential partnerships. The initiative offers significant support, including funding for travel and accommodation, and aims to facilitate connections with local investors and companies. .lumen is also expanding into Japan, indicating its strategy to penetrate two of Asia's most advanced tech markets.
