The Moldovan government plans to declare a state of emergency in the energy and hydrological sectors for 60 days to address potential supply disruptions. This proposal will be submitted to Parliament for approval. Approximately 59% of the country's electricity needs will be met through imports this winter, with natural gas supplies contracted at over 90%. Although fuel stock levels have improved, risks remain due to international market fluctuations. The government highlights a severe water deficit in the Nistru and Prut rivers, which could impact water supply. The emergency measures aim to ensure the continuity of energy, heating, water, and fuel supplies, while also protecting consumers and critical infrastructure.
