Starting October 1, the complete pension contribution period in Romania will increase by one month, affecting retirement age and contribution requirements for women. Men will retire at 65 with a 35-year contribution period, while women will gradually reach the same age and contribution period by 2035. The next increases will occur in July and August 2026, with further adjustments planned for January 2027. These changes are mandated by pension legislation from September 2024, not by the current government.
