The Boița 1 tunnel on the Sibiu-Pitești highway is nearly 45% complete, but the overall Boița-Cornetu section is only 16% finished due to a lack of revised environmental approval. The Turkish contractor is focusing on sections with construction permits until the necessary approvals are obtained. The entire highway will span approximately 122 kilometers and is expected to be completed by the end of 2028, although there are delays on the mountainous sections, which are the most challenging due to tunnels and viaducts.
