Support for Ukraine's rapid EU accession has decreased among EU citizens, despite strong backing from Ukrainians. A recent Bertelsmann Foundation survey shows that while 83% of Ukrainians favor quick membership, only 47% of EU citizens agree. Germany, a major supporter of Ukraine, shows only 41% support for rapid accession, with Romania at 40%. In contrast, Sweden leads with 69% support. The survey indicates a decline in support since the beginning of the Russian invasion in 2022. The Bertelsmann Foundation emphasizes the need for better communication regarding Ukraine's strategic importance for EU integration.
