Military prosecutors have charged several military surgeons from the Emergency Military Hospital in Constanța with bribery. Colonel Ghiță Constantin and Colonel Minea Laurențiu Marian are accused of accepting bribes from patients for medical services. Both have been placed under judicial control for 60 days, starting September 2, 2026, and must pay substantial bail. Searches at their homes and the hospital revealed unaccounted cash. The prosecutors have gathered evidence indicating that the surgeons received money and gifts in exchange for their medical duties. They are prohibited from leaving Romania and practicing medicine during this period, with potential consequences for non-compliance.
