Someșul, râul care sfidează seceta în România

The National Strategy for Climate Change Adaptation indicates a general decrease in river flows in Romania, except for the Someș basin, which may see an increase in water resources. Simulations predict a 6% average rise in water resources for the Someș basin by mid-century, with Someșul Mic potentially experiencing increases of up to 23%. Despite this, drought risks remain, as river flows were below 30% of monthly averages in August 2026. The strategy also forecasts a 5.5% increase in precipitation for the Someș basin, contrasting with a national average decrease of 3.2%. However, the government warns of increased flood risks due to heavy rainfall and urban development.
