New drivers may face restrictions on the cars they can drive for the first two years after obtaining their license. The Chamber of Deputies is voting on a law that sets a power limit for vehicles driven by novice drivers. The proposed limit is 75 kilowatts per ton, roughly equivalent to 102 horsepower per ton. This means that for a car weighing about 1.3-1.5 tons, the maximum power would be around 120-130 horsepower. Cars exceeding this power-to-weight ratio cannot be driven by beginners during the first two years. Models like BMW 330 and Volkswagen Golf GTI may exceed this limit, while Dacia Logan fits within it. The rule is based on the power-to-weight ratio rather than a specific list of car models.
