A fire at the Brașov Pneumophysiology Hospital resulted in the tragic death of a patient, reportedly caused by her igniting a mattress with a cigarette. The incident led to the evacuation of 50 individuals from the ward, although they were later allowed to return. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, which were confined to a single bed. Medical staff and patients attempted to put out the fire themselves, highlighting the immediate danger posed by the presence of oxygen in the hospital environment.
