Škoda unveiled the new RegioPanter BEMU battery-electric train at InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin. This train operates on both electrified and non-electrified tracks, utilizing stored battery energy. It can travel at least 80 kilometers on battery power, reaching speeds of 120 km/h on non-electrified sections and 160 km/h under electrification. The design allows for direct travel without passenger transfers, enhancing connectivity. The second generation features three doors per side, increasing capacity to 150 seats. Škoda has optimized energy consumption and traction efficiency, using LTO battery technology for safety. The train is relevant for markets with non-electrified sections, including Romania, and represents Škoda's commitment to alternative propulsion technologies.
