Situație gravă la secția ATI nou-născuți de la Spitalul Marie Curie. Șeful secției: ”Se desființează paturi. E haos”

The head of the neonatal ICU at Marie Curie Children's Hospital highlighted the severe impact of the current hospital crisis, including the closure of ICU beds. Dr. Cătălin Cârstoveanu reported a shortage of staff due to hiring freezes imposed by the government, leading to a temporary reduction of available beds for critically ill newborns. He noted that the waiting list for ICU admission often includes 10 to 30 infants, with a concerning mortality rate of 5 per thousand. Plans for expanding the ICU include adding 20 new beds and improving facilities, but staffing remains a challenge.
