Sistemul Solar se va destrăma mai devreme decât se credea. Ce arată noile calcule ale oamenilor de știință
New calculations suggest that the Solar System may destabilize much sooner than previously thought, potentially within a billion years after the Sun becomes a white dwarf. This contrasts sharply with earlier estimates of stability lasting quintillions of years. The study indicates that the Sun will lose mass irregularly, causing gravitational disturbances that could disrupt the orbits of outer planets like Jupiter and Saturn, possibly ejecting them into interstellar space. In some simulations, planets were already disturbed during the red giant phase of the Sun. While these events are far in the future, they highlight the transient nature of the Solar System's gravitational balance.
