Siegfried Mureșan, negociatorul-șef al Parlamentului European: Respingem ferm tăierile propuse de președinția irlandeză a UE la viitorul buget multianual

Siegfried Mureșan, the chief negotiator for the European Parliament, firmly rejected the proposed budget cuts by the Irish presidency of the EU. The new budget negotiation package suggests an 8% reduction compared to the initial proposal by the European Commission, ignoring a previously voted 10% increase by the Parliament. Mureșan emphasized that these cuts would negatively impact defense, competitiveness, and agriculture, which are crucial for the EU's future. He called for a more courageous and visionary budget approach, urging member states to adopt a common position for final negotiations. The budget requires unanimous approval from the 27 member states and cannot take effect without the Parliament's consent.
