Shamonda. Un virus despre care se credea că circulă doar în rândul animalelor, descoperit pentru prima dată în cadavrul unui bărbat: „E vorba de un caz excepțional”

The Shamonda virus, previously thought to only infect animals, has been detected in a human for the first time in France. Authorities reported that the individual, who had a severely compromised immune system, died in early October. Despite its long history in Africa and Asia, no human cases had been documented until now. Officials stated there is currently no health risk to the general population. The virus is transmitted by small insects and primarily affects livestock, particularly cattle. It was first identified in Nigeria in the 1960s and has been sporadically found in animals in Africa and Japan.
