British intelligence has uncovered a cyber espionage campaign linked to Iran, targeting dissidents, activists, and journalists across various countries. The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) reported that Iranian hackers employed spyware to steal sensitive data from victims' devices. Collaborating with U.S. and Dutch partners, NCSC monitored these hackers who lured targets into installing tracking software via platforms like WhatsApp. The spyware, named 'CHOSEN BRICK', allows attackers to access personal information, including emails and social media messages. The FBI also warned that Iran's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) uses malware for data collection and reputational harm against perceived threats. NCSC has issued new security recommendations for potential targets.
