The Senate has approved a measure to provide scholarships to students during school vacations, starting this school year. This initiative aims to reduce absenteeism and school dropout rates, expanding the number of beneficiaries. Eligible recipients include students from public, private, and confessional pre-university education, as well as minor mothers who have resumed their studies. The scholarships will have specific amounts: merit scholarships at 450 lei, social and technological scholarships at 300 lei, and 700 lei for minor mothers. The project also plans to extend technological scholarships to students in dual vocational high schools starting in the 2026-2027 school year. Scholarships are non-taxable and do not affect social benefit calculations.
