The National Strategy and Action Plan for Biodiversity Conservation 2026-2030 has been approved by the Senate with a majority vote. The strategy aims to reduce pollution risk by 50%, but does not mandate a halving of pesticide use in agriculture. Despite initial opposition, PSD senators supported the strategy after amendments were made. Vice Prime Minister Tanczos Barna clarified that protected areas do not imply total prohibition, as 90% of these areas allow for some activities. The strategy will now proceed to the Chamber of Deputies for final approval.
