Seismologi români se alătură unui proiect croat pentru detectarea timpurie a cutremurelor
The Croatian Seismological Service launched "Crossnet," a €13 million EU-funded project aimed at enhancing seismic data infrastructure. This initiative, one of the largest investments in Croatia's seismic infrastructure, responds to the need for modernization highlighted by the 2020 earthquakes in Zagreb and Banovina. The project includes the establishment of a network of new seismic stations to improve emergency services and public awareness, while also training young specialists. Currently, over 125 stations are operational, with plans for around 180. The system will allow near real-time data transmission for better earthquake monitoring and early warning capabilities, although it does not predict earthquakes.
