This event is part of a series of seismic activities in September, totaling 16 earthquakes with magnitudes between 2 and 4.1. The most significant quake this month was a 4.1 magnitude on September 6. Since the beginning of the year, over 200 minor earthquakes have been recorded in Romania, mostly unnoticed by the public.
