Șeful MI5 numește Rusia „agresorul numărul unu”

The UK’s MI5 is increasing resources to combat state threats, particularly from Russia and Iran, which have intensified since the Cold War. Director Ken McCallum highlighted a fourfold increase in state actor threats, likening resource allocation to counter-terrorism efforts. He labeled Russia as the primary aggressor, engaging in hybrid warfare while attempting to avoid NATO's collective response. Following the expulsion of nearly 1,000 Russian agents, Moscow is increasingly relying on intermediaries for covert operations. Additionally, McCallum warned of rising Iranian activities in the UK, including targeting Jewish communities. The use of artificial intelligence by terrorists poses new challenges, with concerns over its potential application in biological weapons development. The rise of far-right extremism, fueled by online radicalization, is also a growing concern for MI5.
