On Wednesday, a crowd of Kosovars attacked the EULEX mission headquarters in Pristina in response to prison sentences for former KLA leaders. The sentences were announced by the Special Tribunal for Kosovo, leading to protests as many view these leaders as national heroes. Hashim Thaci received a 25-year sentence for war crimes, while others received varying sentences. Protesters expressed their anger by throwing stones and chanting slogans in support of the KLA. EULEX has been involved in investigating war crimes since 2010, supporting the establishment of the Special Chambers of Kosovo.
