Energy tariffs are expected to rise moderately by up to 10% in the near future, according to Cristian Bușoi from the Ministry of Energy. Increased consumption during the hot summer has led to higher bills for residential consumers. Hidroelectrica announced a price increase for new customers starting October 2026, raising the active energy price from 0.45 to 0.515 lei/kWh, which is a 13% increase. This adjustment is below the cumulative inflation rate since the last price change. The company has faced challenges due to rising costs and unfavorable hydrological conditions, impacting energy production. The new price applies only to new customers and expiring contracts, with no retroactive effect.
