Low water levels in the Danube have forced nuclear plants to reduce output or shut down to protect facilities. Romania's Cernavodă plant has already halted one reactor, while Hungary's Paks plant has completely ceased operations for the first time in 44 years. Bulgaria's Kozloduy plant is under special safety measures due to the critical water levels. The situation is exacerbated by environmental regulations and affects not only energy production but also navigation and transport along the Danube.
