Bucharest residents will face increased water rates due to a new investment program aimed at modernizing the city's water and sewage infrastructure. The General Council approved a contract amendment with Apa Nova, involving nearly 500 million euros for extensive upgrades across all sectors. The water tariff will rise by 0.85 lei per cubic meter, with significant investments planned for both water and sewage networks. The program addresses the city's drainage issues, particularly during heavy rains, and includes the rehabilitation of aging collectors and the construction of retention basins.
