Romanian drivers will face increased fees for obtaining or renewing driving licenses and registration certificates starting September 15, 2026. The General Directorate of Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration announced the new rates, which include a driving license fee of 139 lei, up from 89 lei, and a registration certificate fee of 76 lei, previously 49 lei. Payments made before the new rates take effect will not be valid for the updated fees. Drivers can pay these fees at counters, through SelfPay terminals, or online via Ghișeul.ro.
