In the second quarter of 2026, Romania's GDP decreased by 0.4% compared to the same quarter in 2025, with a 2.0% decline in adjusted terms. For the first half of 2026, GDP fell by 0.7% in raw terms and 1.6% in real terms compared to the first half of 2025. The estimated GDP for the first semester of 2026 was 1.023 trillion lei, reflecting a real decrease of 1.6%. Key sectors contributing negatively included wholesale and retail trade, industry, and information and communications, all showing declines in activity volume.
