The closure is necessary for runway and infrastructure upgrades, raising concerns among airlines and unions about passenger traffic recovery post-renovation. Ryanair, which accounts for over 80% of the airport's traffic, will be the most affected, with thousands of flights disrupted. Wizz Air will also face significant interruptions, as both airlines represent nearly 95% of the airport's annual passenger traffic.
