Scufundarea barjelor pentru Cernavodă, amânată din nou

The sinking operations of barges to increase the Danube's flow to the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant have been postponed to Friday for safety reasons. The National Administration 'Apele Române' announced that all teams and barges are ready, and the sinking will occur one by one under controlled conditions. The operation involves uncertainties, particularly with simultaneous maneuvers, but relies on the experience of the tugboat captains. The Danube's flow at Baziaș has reached 1,400 m³/s, similar to historical lows, prompting a controlled shutdown of Unit 1 at the Cernavodă plant on July 28, 2026, to ensure safety.
