Authorities are continuing operations to sink four barges in the Danube to redirect part of the flow to the Old Danube. The process has faced multiple delays due to safety concerns. The current hydrological situation remains critical, with record low water levels. The last barge has been prepared for controlled sinking, which will create artificial thresholds to help manage water levels in the Cernavodă area.
