The EU faces an energy price crisis due to the impact of the Iran war on oil and gas markets, according to Energy Commissioner Dan Jorgensen. He highlighted the bloc's heavy reliance on foreign energy imports, which cover about 80% of its gas needs, making it vulnerable to global price increases. While Europe has not yet experienced supply shortages, rising prices are challenging countries to fill gas storage ahead of winter. Current gas storage levels are about 70%, lower than last year. Jorgensen noted that the EU is better prepared than in winter 2021, but urged governments to enhance winter preparations.
