„Sclavie prin datorii”. ONU avertizează: Grupările criminale recrutează tot mai mulți oameni pentru fraude online

The UN Migration Agency warns that organized crime networks are trafficking hundreds of thousands of people, including educated English speakers, for online scam work. Victims are lured by fake job ads, often on social media, and upon arrival, they face violence and debt bondage. The trend is increasing, with victims from over 80 countries, particularly in Asia. The financial losses from these scams in East Asia, Australia, and New Zealand reached up to $114 billion last year. The agency has supported over 3,500 victims from nearly 40 countries, with Indonesia, India, and Sri Lanka being the most affected.
