The road tax will be based on vehicle emissions, with heavier vehicles charged per kilometer according to their pollution standards. A new system, TollRo, will calculate fees based on distance traveled, favoring electric and hybrid vehicles. Existing road tax for cars under 3.5 tons remains valid until expiration. Monitoring cameras will ensure compliance with tax payments, aligning Romania's infrastructure with EU standards.
